SAM

Been around a while now….for those that might remember, the first album I bought was ‘The Yes Album' when it had just come out! If you don't remember or weren't alive check out the date on Amazon! Early musical influences included Led Zeppelin, Wishbone Ash, Black Sabbath and most of the mega rock bands of that era. At various times I've had phases…e.g. the Jazz Rock phase, the Blues phase (which still persists to a large degree) etc. Now it's the ‘anything which sounds good to me phase' – which is where I believe we all should be!
In terms of bands, I joined my first one when I was around 15…..we weren't very good and I don't think any of the others are still actively playing! In the next few years, first in Wigan and then in London when I was a student, I played guitar (the six string type) in various bands – I would like to think that I got gradually better but you'd have to take my word for it! When I returned to Wigan , I again was looking for other musicians and played in a couple of bands before joining Final Programme with some local lads. FP underwent a couple of personnel changes and became Dutch Courage with who I had my most enjoyable residence with a band until SpiderMonkeyS several years later. Both FP and DC played an interesting mix of mainly self penned rock songs and a few classic cover versions. With all the above bands I was playing lead & rhythm guitar.
